The Independent Adoption Center (IAC), in addition to being the largest and one of the oldest fully open adoption agencies in the U.S., is an open adoption advocate. This section is devoted to informing you about open adoption through articles, research, and resources.
IAC is an Open Adoption Advocate because:
- Open Adoption serves the best interests of birthparents, children, and adoptive parents
- Research clearly informs us that the more open an adoption is the better it is
for all members of the adoption triad
- Open Adoption reflects “best practices” in adoption as supported by a growing body of research
- As an organization, we were among a select group that pioneered fully open adoptions
over 25 years ago
